Fluorescence Imaging for Surface Cleanliness and Filmic Contamination Inspection
SITA FluoSpection Qube is an inspection system for checking the surface cleanliness of parts and components using UV-induced fluorescence imaging. It visualises, measures and documents the distribution of filmic contamination across the inspected surface.
Organic residues such as oils, greases, metalworking fluids and release agents fluoresce when exposed to UV light. The FluoSpection Qube captures this fluorescence with a highly sensitive camera and provides a detailed view of the contamination on the surface.
The FluoSpection Qube does more than provide a single measurement value. It creates a fluorescence image of the inspected surface, showing where contamination is located and how it is distributed.
Measurement results are normalised and provided in RFU (Relative Fluorescence Units). A lower RFU value indicates a cleaner surface.
The complete surface can be evaluated, while specific functional or critical areas can also be analysed separately. This makes it possible to inspect areas such as sealing, bonding or contact surfaces in detail.
High-resolution imaging enables the inspection of complex and large-area components. Multiple measurement positions can be used and the images can be combined to evaluate a larger inspection area.
SITA FluoSpection Qube can be used to monitor and optimise cleaning processes. Different parts or cleaning conditions can be compared to identify remaining contamination and non-uniform cleaning results.
Measurement results can be checked against defined limit values and documented for quality assurance and process control.
The measurement method is based on the fluorescence properties of organic film-like contaminants. The component surface is uniformly illuminated with UV light. Contamination on the surface produces fluorescence, which is captured by a highly sensitive camera.
The image data is processed and normalised according to SITA fluorescence standards. The resulting values are provided in RFU (Relative Fluorescence Units). This provides both quantitative measurement data and an image showing the distribution of contamination across the surface.
